  • BMW’s 2027 M2 xDrive sends its 473-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six to all four wheels for the first time in the model’s history, while keeping a rear-biased setup.
  • The new drivetrain cuts the 0-60 mph run to 3.3 seconds—three-tenths quicker than the rear-wheel-drive M2—using an electronically controlled transfer case and rear Active M Differential.
  • BMW says the system runs in rear-wheel drive during normal driving and brings in the front axle only when traction demands it; a rear-drive-only mode remains available with stability control off.
  • The xDrive version comes only with an eight-speed automatic, reaches 155 mph standard or 177 mph with the M Driver’s package, and starts production in Mexico in August 2026.
  • Pricing has not been confirmed, but the AWD model is expected to cost more than the rear-drive M2, which starts at $69,550, as BMW pitches it as a four-season performance car.
