Summary
United said an internal memo suggesting passengers could switch away from President Donald J. Trump International Airport because of its name was “poorly worded and not accurate.”
The airline said customers can change tickets without a fee for many reasons, but not solely because of an airport’s name or three-letter code.
Live and Let’s Fly had reported agents were empowered to move travelers to Miami or Fort Lauderdale if they no longer wanted to fly into the renamed airport.
The Florida airport was officially renamed on July 9, and its booking code is set to change from PBI to DJT on Aug. 18 while flights and security procedures stay the same.
