Pokémon Go players can unlock the Special Research "A Thunderous Discovery" by logging in between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. local time on July 11 or 12 during Go Fest 2026: Global.
8 quest stages lead to a Zeraora encounter in Step 6, and once unlocked the research has no deadline, letting players finish it after the event.
Step rewards include 26 Zeraora Candy, 6 Candy XL, a Zeraora T-shirt and Poké Ball Shades, with tasks spanning raids, throws, walking, buddy hearts and catching Pokémon on 7 different days.
Players who attended the in-person 2026 Go Fest events in Tokyo, Chicago or Copenhagen get Zeraora Candy instead of a second Zeraora, extending this year's free global event to a wider audience.
