July 25-26’s Ozone Ascent event will give Pokémon Go players a new Timed Research chance to earn Meteorite, the item needed to teach Rayquaza Dragon Ascent.
Meteorite has a single use: it unlocks Dragon Ascent on one Rayquaza, and that move is required before the Pokémon can Mega Evolve.
400 Mega Rayquaza Energy is still needed for the Mega Evolution, with energy available from Mega Rayquaza raids, some research rewards and walking Rayquaza as a buddy.
Mega Rayquaza raids can also drop Meteorite, though not guaranteed, making the event’s free and paid Timed Research the more reliable route.
Mega Rayquaza boosts Dragon-, Flying- and Psychic-type damage and increases XP, Candy and Candy XL gains, with stronger bonuses as its Mega Level rises.
