Summary
Around 7 p.m., an MTA bus crashed into a FedEx Office on Reisterstown Road in Pikesville, leaving 28 people injured; one critical patient was extricated from the bus and taken to a hospital.
Seven other vehicles were involved — including one that rolled over — and one person was trapped in a car as Baltimore County declared a second-alarm mass-casualty incident.
A medevac helicopter, Shock Trauma GoTeam, BGE crews and ambulances from Howard and Anne Arundel counties were sent to the scene; officials said all patients had been transported by 7:18 p.m.
MD 140 was closed in both directions between Old Court Road and Sudbrook Lane because of the crash and downed power lines, with authorities warning drivers to expect extended closures.
Gov. Wes Moore and local officials said they were coordinating support and urged residents to avoid the area while investigators work to determine how the injuries were split between the bus and other vehicles.
