Cambodia fell from fourth in the first quarter to sixth in Vietnam's inbound rankings for January-June, sending 508,000 visitors despite a 41% year-on-year rise.
Japan also slipped out of the top five to eighth with 441,000 arrivals, up 12%, while the U.S. returned to the top tier with 529,000 visitors.
Russia ranked third behind mainland China and South Korea, ahead of Taiwan, helped by new direct and charter flights and favorable visa policies.
Vietnam drew 12.3 million international visitors in the first half, up 14.9%, as officials cited its image as a safe destination amid global geopolitical uncertainty.
The first-half reshuffle comes as Vietnam targets 25 million foreign arrivals for the full year.
