Rhaenyra Seizes Iron Throne, Beheads Otto Hightower in 2 Blows

Summary
King's Landing falls to Rhaenyra after she flies in with Daemon and takes the Iron Throne, using the execution of Otto Hightower to publicly cement her rule.
Otto's death comes as Rhaenyra reels from Jacaerys' killing in the Battle of the Gullet, with Daemon pressing her to resume the war rather than remain in mourning.
Larys Strong had secretly kept Otto imprisoned as a hedge against either side winning, allowing Daemon to produce his old rival once the city turned.
The takeover is eased by the Gold Cloaks' loyalty to former commander Daemon, while Alicent, Helaena and Jaehaera are captured trying to flee the capital.
Elsewhere, Aemond storms Harrenhal, kills Ser Simon Strong and his sons, and is wounded, underscoring that Rhaenyra's seizure of the throne may not end the wider conflict.
