Rhaenyra Targaryen Seizes Iron Throne, Beheading Otto Hightower as Aemond Is Lured Away

Q: As Aemond and Daemon's violence escalates, which Targaryen prince now poses the greatest threat?

Aemond Targaryen now appears to pose the greatest threat. The clearest reason is the combination of volatility, ambition and raw destructive power. In the latest developments, Aemond flies to Harrenhal on Vhagar, kills the unarmed Ser Simon Strong and his kin, and is described as increasingly unhinged and intent on proving himself. Multiple accounts in the supporting material frame him as the more dangerous escalator: he is acting independently, is fixated on power, and commands the realm’s most fearsome dragon. That makes Aemond a broader threat than Daemon at this moment. Daemon remains ruthless and central to Rhaenyra’s campaign, including his role in the fall of King’s Landing and the executions that followed.
