Four suspects in a dark sedan remained at large after a teenager was shot in the leg around 2:15 p.m. near Genesee Avenue and Mount Etna Drive in Clairemont.
Security video obtained by NBC 7 shows the shooting, and police hope the car can be identified from the footage as officers work ALPR data and witness-provided plate details.
Five shots appear on video, though most witnesses reported four; police said the gunfire came from a passenger seat and no suspect descriptions were immediately available.
Sharp Memorial Hospital took the teen for treatment, while the shooting shut down traffic for hours and prompted police to urge drivers to use alternate routes.
SDPD said the attack is not tied to other recent crime in the area and is still examining whether the teen had any interaction with the passing car.
