Summary
Six people died across four separate Omaha incidents on Wednesday, including a suspected murder-suicide near Cunningham Lake where a woman later died at Nebraska Medical Center.
At the north Omaha house, a man and woman were found with gunshot wounds, while a 5-year-old and 1-year-old were unharmed; police said the older child called a relative, who then called 911.
Earlier, officers found two adults dead inside an Izard Street home after a caller said he discovered his parents, and a separate shooting near 48th and Nicholas left 17-year-old Aung Htoo dead and 18-year-old Manish Gurung critically injured.
A fourth fatal incident came in an apartment fire at Davenport Plaza, where one person died and another was hospitalized with injuries.
Police Chief Todd Schmaderer called it a very tough day for Omaha; the city said the death toll lifted 2026 homicides from 4 to 7, versus 9 at the same point last year.
