Summary
Omaha police said officers responding around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to a home near 82nd and Bondesson found a man dead inside, while a woman from the home later died at a hospital.
A 5-year-old who lived there called a family member, who then called 911; the child and a 1-year-old from the home were removed safely and are receiving help.
Chief Todd Schmaderer said the case is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide and declined to detail the adults' relationship.
Wednesday's violence stretched beyond the home: Schmaderer and Mayor John Ewing said Omaha saw 4 apparent murder-suicide deaths, 1 shooting death and 1 fire death, while urging residents to use crisis and domestic-violence resources.
