USD Student, 20s, Dies After San Diego Police Car Strikes Him Near Campus

Summary
A University of San Diego student in his 20s died after a marked San Diego police patrol car struck him around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on Linda Vista Road near Goshen Street.
Police said the officer was driving west when he felt an impact, turned the vehicle around and found the man lying in the roadway; the student later died at a hospital.
Lt. Cesar Jimenez said it remains unclear why the student entered the roadway, and officers rendered first aid before paramedics took him away.
USD confirmed the victim was a student, called the loss tragic and said the name had not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation, and police asked anyone with information to call 619-531-2000.
