Summary
A robbery suspect died after an LAPD pursuit ended around 4:15 a.m. on the northbound 405 in Westchester, where officers said he stopped in traffic, got out and opened fire.
LAPD said the chase began after a cab driver reported a robbery on Manchester Boulevard and pointed officers to the suspect's nearby vehicle; police said the driver ignored commands and fled.
All northbound 405 lanes at Howard Hughes Parkway remained shut under a CHP Sig Alert, with authorities warning the closure could last six to eight hours.
The Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp, Howard Hughes Parkway and La Tijera Boulevard on-ramp were also closed, and drivers were told to use the 110, Sepulveda Boulevard or La Cienega Boulevard instead.
