Summary
All northbound 405 lanes in Los Angeles were shut after LAPD fatally shot a robbery suspect during a freeway chase early Friday.
Around 4:15 a.m., the man allegedly pistol-whipped a person and stole the victim's glasses at a 7-Eleven near Manchester Avenue and Airport Boulevard before police tracked him down.
The suspect refused to exit his car, drove onto the northbound 405 and allegedly fired at officers, who returned fire; he later died at a hospital, and no officers were injured.
Traffic was diverted at Howard Hughes Parkway, with onramps at Sepulveda and La Tijera boulevards also closed after lanes were shut just before 5:30 a.m.
