The feature works only on compatible Samsung phones running Android 9.0 or higher, with availability still dependent on airport equipment and TSA reader support.
Samsung says the ID is protected by fingerprint or PIN, Knox security and on-device encryption, but travelers are still advised to carry a physical passport or REAL ID as backup.
The launch expands Samsung Wallet beyond payments and tickets into identity checks at airports and some venues, as Samsung competes with Apple and Google in digital IDs.
