About six vessels a day have been targeted since July, according to commander Robert “Magyar” Brovdi’s forces, in a push to isolate Crimea, disrupt Russian logistics and raise the cost of occupation.
The campaign now includes oil tankers, cargo ships and infrastructure such as a power substation; Ukrainian units also claim the Kerch ferry link has lost roughly 75% of capacity, though Reuters could not verify that.
Russia has answered with heavier strikes on Odesa and other southern ports, and Ukraine says attacks in July killed 10 sailors, hit ports 23 times and civilian vessels 17 times in two weeks.
The duel threatens Ukraine’s export lifeline—more than 90% of agricultural shipments move through Odesa-region ports—and has already prompted some shipowners to temporarily suspend arrivals.
