FDA and CDC said 1,947 Cyclospora infections tied to Taco Bell exposure have been identified in nine states, with 98 hospitalizations, no deaths, and illness onset from June 22 to July 20.
FDA said a previously reported positive Taylor Farms de Mexico sample was a false positive, but traceback and outbreak data still converge on shredded iceberg lettuce from central Mexico.
The investigation remains active, and FDA expects confirmed case counts to keep rising because linking illnesses to the outbreak can take up to six weeks.
