EA FC 27 Gets PEGI 16+ Rating as Loot Box Rules Target FUT

EA FC 27 has been reclassified to PEGI 16+ from 3+, making the annual football title one of the highest-profile games hit by Europe’s new loot-box rating rules.
PEGI last month expanded ratings to cover online features and now labels games with paid random items as 16+ by default; EA FC was caught because its Ultimate Team mode sells randomized player packs.
FUT remains central to EA’s business despite criticism that such mechanics resemble gambling, with the company saying players can participate without spending money and under-13 accounts already blocked from purchases.
PEGI ratings guide retailers and parents across 38 countries, but with most sales now digital, the practical decision on whether under-16s play EA FC 27 will still largely fall to families.
