Waltz Rebukes Pocan Over Rubio's Cuba Views at July 22 Hearing

Mike Waltz clashed with Rep. Mark Pocan at a House hearing after Pocan said Marco Rubio’s views on Cuba carried less weight because the secretary has never visited the island.
Waltz answered that Rubio’s family fled Cuba, then pressed Pocan on whether he had seen the Castro regime’s privileges during his own early-July trip; Pocan said visiting Cuba would change how officials view it.
The dispute followed Pocan’s call for easing U.S. pressure on Havana and his dismissal of a State Department report released this week that alleged a decades-long Cuban influence campaign inside the United States.
Pocan also asked whether the administration could pursue military action against Cuba, and Waltz declined to rule out any option for President Donald Trump.
