Summary
A predawn home invasion on West Vegas Drive near Tucson triggered a manhunt after an intruder sexually assaulted a woman, tried to burglarize the home and fled, with no arrest announced by Tuesday.
Pima County deputies said the suspect entered through an unlocked door around 2:40 a.m. Monday; he was described as Hispanic or White, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, thin, with gray in his beard and an oversized green shirt.
Sheriff Chris Nanos said there is nothing indicating a link to the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, whose case is being investigated by the sheriff's department and the FBI about 30 miles away.
That missing-person case remained active after authorities checked an anonymous tip about a shallow grave near the Nogales border in Mexico and did not find Guthrie.
Investigators are now asking nearby residents to review home or neighborhood surveillance footage and send tips through 911 or 88-CRIME.
