OCBC said the rupiah is showing tentative stabilization against the US dollar after sustained depreciation, with USD/IDR now testing a critical support zone.
A sustained break below that zone would point to further dollar weakness, while failure to hold it could renew pressure on the Indonesian currency.
Bank Indonesia has been actively intervening to curb volatility, making the technical levels important for both traders and policymakers judging the rupiah’s near-term path.
For Indonesia, a steadier rupiah could ease imported inflation and reduce uncertainty for importers and companies with foreign-currency debt, even as exporters often favor a weaker exchange rate.
