Summary
Amazon MGM Studios has formally ordered an eight-episode RoboCop series for Prime Video, moving ahead three years after the project was first announced in development.
Peter Ocko will serve as showrunner, with James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett executive producing through Blumhouse Atomic Monster; original co-creator Ed Neumeier is also attached.
The studio framed the 1987 franchise revival around themes of corporate greed, privatization, technology and identity, arguing those ideas are newly urgent for a modern TV audience.
RoboCop has seen several earlier expansions — including 1990 and 1993 sequels, 1994 and 2001 TV projects, and a 2014 film reboot — but Amazon is betting a serialized take can reach a new generation.
