Southern California Heat Wave Eases as Highs Fall From 107 to Seasonal Norms by Saturday

Southern California will start cooling Thursday, with forecasters expecting temperatures to return to normal for mid-July by Saturday after this week’s heat wave.
104-degree highs are still expected Thursday in inland valleys of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, while an extreme heat warning remains in effect across much of the region until 8 p.m.
107 degrees in Woodland Hills, 97 in Burbank and 94 in downtown Los Angeles marked Wednesday’s peak, with tropical moisture pushing coastal humidity to about 70% and valley humidity to 30%-40%.
Offshore winds are expected to strengthen the marine layer and bring morning clouds and fog to many coastal areas Friday, helping drive the broader cooldown.
Weekend highs should settle near the mid-80s in downtown Los Angeles, around 90 in the valleys and in the 70s along the coast, with some areas possibly dipping below normal.
