Friday’s extreme heat warning now covers Arizona’s Valley through the end of the workweek, with another Weather Action Day in place as temperatures run well above 110 degrees.
110-degree-plus heat also triggered warnings for the Grand Canyon below 4,000 feet through Sunday evening and for Glen and Marble canyons from Saturday morning to Sunday evening, prompting officials to urge hikers to reconsider plans.
Phoenix residents were told to limit midday outdoor time, drink water, rest in shade or air conditioning, never leave children or pets in cars, and check on older neighbors or anyone without reliable cooling.
Eastern Arizona is already seeing monsoon moisture, with showers and thunderstorms continuing along the Mogollon Rim, White Mountains and southeastern Arizona before more moisture arrives over the weekend.
Weekend cooling could bring storms back to the Valley as early as Saturday evening, with better chances Sunday and early next week; Sky Harbor has logged 0.32 inches of rain in 2026, 2.78 inches below average.
