Samsung Display said it has begun supplying the first mass-produced VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 laptop panels to Lenovo, Asus, Dell and MSI.
The new certification requires black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower and 1,400 nits peak brightness at 10% OPR—about 40% above the previous True Black 1000 tier.
Samsung said its tandem OLED panels reach up to 1,600 nits, versus roughly 1,100 nits for conventional single-layer OLED, by stacking two emissive layers to boost efficiency.
Lenovo's Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition was the first device to use the panel, while Asus, Dell and MSI models are due to reach stores in H2 2026.
The rollout extends tandem OLED from desktop monitors into premium laptops as LG Display also prepares to compete in the segment.
