Q: Is the 2024 quarterback class, with its unprecedented early success, already the greatest in NFL history?

Not yet. The 2024 quarterback class has a strong case as the best early-starting class, but it is too soon to call it the greatest in NFL history. The evidence for its start is real. By training camp 2026, four of the six first-round quarterbacks already have playoff wins. Caleb Williams and Drake Maye both broke out in 2025, with Maye entering elite-tier discussions after a near-MVP season and deep playoff run, and Williams becoming an MVP candidate after leading Chicago to a division title. Bo Nix has been a steady winner in Denver, and even the class’s less-settled members, such as Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy, remain central to their teams’ plans. But “greatest” requires more than fast starts. The searched material notes the 2024 class still has no Super Bowl titles, no MVP awards and no All-Pro selections as a group, even if it already has multiple Pro Bowlers and a solid combined record. That leaves it behind older benchmark classes in career achievement. The 1983 class remains the historical gold standard for depth and Hall of Fame impact, while more recent classes such as 2017, 2018 and 2020 already own MVPs, Super Bowl wins and longer proof of sustained excellence. So the fairest answer is that the 2024 class may be on a historic trajectory, and its early returns are unusually strong. It is not yet the greatest ever, but it has put itself in that conversation far earlier than most classes do.

Six NFL teams will have full rosters in camp by the end of this week: Arizona and Carolina on July 22, New England and Seattle on July 24, and San Francisco and the Rams on July 25.
The other 26 teams are scheduled to report July 28, marking the league's full shift into training-camp mode after some clubs brought in rookies last week.
