August is the second month Canadians are receiving inflation-indexed federal and provincial benefit increases after the CRA applied a 2% adjustment at the start of the 2026 benefit year in July.
The 2% rise is smaller than 2025’s 2.7% increase, but it lifts a wide range of payments aimed at offsetting higher living costs for families, seniors and people with disabilities.
Aug. 20 payments include the Canada Disability Benefit at up to $204.20 a month, the Canada Child Benefit at $8,157 a year for children under 6 and $6,883 for ages 6 to 17, and the Ontario Child Benefit at up to $146.66 monthly.
Later in the month, Ontario Trillium payments arrive Aug. 10, CPP and OAS on Aug. 27, and veteran disability pensions on Aug. 28, with OAS now reaching $751.97 for ages 65 to 74 and $827.17 for those 75 and older.
