Mijas Tourism Employment Rises 3.6% to 7,974 in Q2 2026

7,974 people were employed in Mijas tourism-related activities in the second quarter, extending the sector’s role as a main local economic driver.
5,539 jobs came from accommodation and hospitality, up 4.29% year on year, including 3,983 in food and beverage services and 1,556 in accommodation.
409 hospitality businesses were operating in Mijas, a 0.49% increase from a year earlier, accounting for almost half of tourism employment and sector-linked businesses.
Mijas officials said the next Mijas Lab tourism forum on July 15 will review market trends and help shape policy as the municipality pushes sports, golf, gastronomy, rural and cultural tourism to reduce seasonality.
