ICE Agents Kill 1 in Maine Shooting as FBI Probes 11th Fatality Since 2025

A person was killed Monday in Biddeford, Maine, in a shooting involving ICE agents, with Maine State Police on scene and the FBI expected to investigate.
Ryan Fecteau, speaker of the Maine House, said on Facebook that ICE was involved; local media reported road closures and FBI officials joining the crime scene in the city of 21,000.
ICE, DHS, Biddeford police and the mayor did not immediately provide Reuters with details, leaving the circumstances of the shooting unclear.
The killing came six days after ICE agents in Houston fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during a vehicle stop tied to a person who only "resembled the target," according to DHS.
Salgado's death was the 10th fatal shooting by federal immigration officials since early 2025, and a new Maine death would add to protests over recent killings, including two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis.
