Harris County officials will detail an independent investigation Monday into the July 7 fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during an ICE operation in east Houston.
District attorney investigators already returned to the scene last week to collect evidence, as county leaders say the review must be thorough, transparent and independent.
Federal authorities say an agent fired after Salgado Araujo allegedly drove his vehicle toward officers, but his family disputes that account and wants surveillance and body-camera video released.
The Harris County Medical Examiner classified the death as a homicide, a finding that describes how he died but does not determine whether the shooting was criminal.
