Summary
Games Workshop published a partial 11th-edition Warhammer 40k rules update ahead of next week’s Tacoma Open, where more than 600 players will play the edition’s first major Grand Tournament.
The stopgap patch targets issues players found after launch, with a fuller rules update still due later in July; for now, the document is officially in force only for Tacoma Open events.
Revived Character models can no longer rejoin their former bodyguard units; they now return unengaged as separate one-model units, closing a loophole that made some characters unusually hard to remove.
Genestealer Cults also got a key fix: attached Characters are now excluded when checking Cult Ambush eligibility, Resurgence Point costs and replacement units, letting destroyed squads return without creating endlessly recyclable characters.
The release also includes smaller tuning changes and FAQ clarifications, underscoring how the new edition is being stress-tested before its first marquee event.
