Spotify is testing longer, action-style genre prompts in Discover Weekly, replacing single-word labels such as Indie or Hyperpop with phrases like “Go deeper into indie.”
The test appears limited to select accounts, and the added wording takes more screen space, forcing users to swipe more to reach the full set of up to five filters.
Release Radar is also getting a broader control update, with new options including “Discover new artists,” “Editors’ picks,” and “Easy listening” alongside existing genre-based filters.
Those Release Radar controls are rolling out on mobile and desktop as Spotify keeps refining its flagship discovery playlists, whose genre and mood filters first reached users last year.
