Summary
2,709 acres had burned by 9 p.m. Friday in Llano, with the Summit Fire still 0% contained after erupting near Jesus Canyon Road and East Avenue Z.
At least one structure was destroyed, occupied buildings remained in the fire's path, and flames pushed into Angeles National Forest toward San Bernardino County.
Evacuation orders covered the East Avenue Z and Fort Tejon Road area, while warnings spread nearby; AYF Camp evacuated children and counselors safely, and shelters opened in Lancaster and Palmdale.
At least 10 air tankers were deployed and commanders sought more aerial support as mid-90s heat and fast-moving brush fire conditions drove rapid growth from 8 acres to 1,300 acres by midafternoon.
Smoke advisories from the South Coast Air Quality Management District and county public health officials remain in effect until 5 p.m. Saturday, though broader basin pollution levels were still rated Good to Moderate Friday evening.
