Meta Confirms 2 Next-Gen VR Headsets, Hints at Sept. 23 Connect Reveal

Meta executives had already said in January that future headsets were in development, and Bosworth later said two devices were on the roadmap over time.
Leaks and firmware findings point to one gaming-focused headset positioned as a major Quest 3 upgrade and a separate ultralight mixed-reality device with a tethered compute puck expected in 2027.
Bosworth said Meta has put VR on a “more sustainable” footing after cuts that included studio shutdowns, layoffs, canceled projects and a pullback from some business and Horizon offerings.
