Summary
Ubisoft says Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a full technical reimagining, not a remaster, with rebuilt assets, modernized systems and PS5 optimization pushed close to the console’s limits.
Havana now carries roughly 2x the asset density and crowd count of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, forcing the team to optimize within Black Flag’s fixed mission layouts rather than simplify the original world.
RTGI runs across all console modes — including Series S — while PS5 targets 1080p, 1280p and 1440p internal resolutions for performance, balanced and quality modes before reconstruction to 4K.
Gameplay and world structure were also reworked: stealth adds crouch-anywhere and light-based detection, destructible props affect combat, and the Caribbean map is now streamed as one seamless open world.
Ubisoft said the remake’s goal is to match players’ memory of 2013’s Black Flag with current-generation fidelity, a scope the team says is effectively comparable to building a new game.
