Summary
13 years after the original, Black Flag Resynced lands as more than a remaster, adding expanded missions, re-recorded dialogue and broad gameplay changes to Ubisoft’s 2013 pirate-era Assassin’s Creed.
Game Informer says the re-envisioning works best in its pirate fantasy—revamped ship combat, richer exploration and a stronger Great Inagua hideout make the Caribbean setting feel fresh for returning and new players.
Nearly every core system is retouched, with smoother parkour, deeper combat options, reduced tailing missions, easier stealth and wider difficulty and accessibility settings helping modernize the experience.
The review says some old weaknesses remain: Edward Kenway’s story still feels uneven in later hours, and the modern-day storyline from the original Black Flag has been removed entirely.
Even so, the outlet calls Resynced an impressive rework that sets a high bar for revisiting older action games while preserving the original’s charm and rough edges.
