Summary
One lot of 10-ounce GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries sold at Publix was voluntarily recalled after 12 confirmed E. coli O145:H28 illnesses were reported between May 11 and June 5.
The recall covers only lot code 60401 with a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028, distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Consumers were told not to eat the blueberries and to discard them or return them for a full refund.
Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur said it has told customers to pull the affected lot from distribution and is investigating the source of the potential contamination.
E. coli O145 is a Shiga toxin-producing strain that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness and, in higher-risk groups, the serious kidney complication hemolytic uremic syndrome.
