Summary
Reddit comparisons of GTA 6 and 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshots are highlighting a sharp jump in lighting, detail and overall image fidelity ahead of the new game's release.
Rockstar built both titles on its RAGE engine, and fans say the latest in-engine GTA 6 images show how far that technology has advanced since the PS4 and Xbox One era.
The comparison comes with a caveat: the RDR2 image was captured from actual gameplay, while the GTA 6 shot was rendered in-engine rather than taken from live gameplay.
GTA 6 is confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles on Nov. 19, with PC expected later and a rumored Switch 2 version possibly arriving in 2027.
Rockstar has yet to show much gameplay, but hype is already strong enough to drive pre-orders and even resale overpayment on eBay as the launch nears.
