June 2026 brought a notable update to Samsung’s Antioxidant Index on the Galaxy Watch 8 series, a feature the report says remains unavailable on other mainstream smartwatches.
The tool uses multiple light wavelengths to estimate carotenoid levels in skin, then converts that reading into a 0-100 score intended to reflect fruit-and-vegetable intake and overall antioxidant health.
Samsung frames the metric as a wellness trend tracker rather than a medical function, with diet changes taking up to 2 weeks to appear in the score.
The update sits within Samsung’s broader push to differentiate its watches with hardware-led health features, including AGEs tracking on Galaxy Watch 7 and newer models and body-composition measurement since the Watch 4 line.
