Summary
July 2 marks The Onion’s first official InfoWars programming drop, with two debut shows — Tim Heidecker’s Alex Jones parody extension and The Onion’s Jim Haggerty Show.
Six “Emergency Broadcast” episodes will run this summer in a soft launch that still lives on The Onion’s platforms because standalone InfoWars website and social accounts are not ready.
Heidecker said the reboot will move beyond mocking Jones, using short-form internet-native comedy first and later expanding into recurring series that could reach Adult Swim-style 11-minute formats.
Limited funding remains a constraint, but The Onion wants InfoWars to grow into an independent comedy destination that can attract new creators and eventually support longer series or films.
That expansion also carries a financial goal: helping repay Sandy Hook families, who pushed for InfoWars to land with The Onion after Alex Jones’ defamation case.
