South Windsor police arrested Brittany Howard, 35, and Kasheem Williams, 34, after Costco staff reported they were stealing merchandise and trying to use fraudulent credit cards at self-checkout around 3 p.m. Sunday.
Officers said the pair were suspected serial Costco shoplifters and had already been flagged by staff after an alleged similar attempt at a Costco in Enfield, about 30 minutes north.
Police found 28 stolen financial documents under different names in the suspects’ vehicle, along with merchandise believed stolen from the Enfield store.
Williams was also wanted in Suffolk County, New York, on burglary, strangulation and assault charges, while Howard had a New Jersey warrant on credit card theft charges.
Both were charged with 28 counts of payment card theft plus larceny, identity theft and conspiracy, held on $250,000 surety bonds and due in Manchester Superior Court on Monday.
