Summary
Cambridgeshire Police said a 30-year-old Norfolk man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a three-year-old boy ended up in a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst on 18 June.
The boy was attacked by at least one crocodile and seriously injured while inside the enclosure, but zoo staff pulled him out; he remains in Addenbrooke's Hospital in stable condition.
The family, speaking through police, thanked the zoo staff who rescued their son and said their focus remains on his recovery during what they called a prolonged and difficult period.
Police said the arrested man, believed to have learning disabilities, was visiting the zoo with carers and is not thought to have known the child; he has been bailed.
The zoo near Huntingdon keeps more than 100 animals, and authorities did not seize or put down the crocodiles as the criminal investigation continues.
