Summary
A 3-year-old boy injured in a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon is no longer critical and is now in stable condition in hospital.
Police say the child suffered serious injuries while inside the enclosure on Thursday afternoon, where at least one crocodile attacked him before zoo staff pulled him out and medics treated him at the scene.
A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, with police saying he is believed not to know the boy and was later bailed until Sept. 18.
Investigators said the suspect, who is believed to have learning disabilities and had been visiting the zoo with carers, was assessed as unfit for interview; the crocodiles were neither seized nor killed.
