A survey of 300 global technology experts found strong confidence in agentic AI handling 101 AI, data and cloud tasks, with data workflows emerging as the clearest near-term use case.
Confidence was highest in structured, measurable work such as report generation, boilerplate code, data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, real-time stream monitoring and data profiling.
The report said readiness falls on more complex tasks mainly because agents still lack enough business context, even as reasoning demands rise with multistep workflows and judgment-heavy decisions.
Human oversight remains central to safe deployment, while Microsoft executives argued agents gain trust when they operate inside existing identity, governance and operational boundaries.
The findings come as Gartner calls 2026 an AI inflection year and McKinsey projects IT infrastructure costs could grow 2 to 3 times by 2030 despite flat budgets.
