Warriors Chase LeBron, Davis as Mavericks Discuss Kawhi Deal

Golden State is trying to trade for Anthony Davis and then sign LeBron James when free agency opens Tuesday, using Draymond Green’s opt-out to create cap flexibility.
A Davis deal would likely require Jimmy Butler’s $57 million expiring contract plus picks, but Washington has signaled it wants to keep Davis and can offer him a four-year, $275 million extension from Aug. 6.
LeBron’s path is also uncertain: the Lakers reportedly have not made an offer, though Rich Paul said 10 to 12 teams have checked in and sign-and-trade scenarios could emerge.
Dallas has also discussed a Kawhi Leonard trade with the Clippers centered on P.J. Washington, Klay Thompson and draft picks, while Toronto remains linked as another possible destination.
The twin pursuits show contenders scrambling before free agency, with Golden State seeking one last Curry-era title push and the Clippers weighing whether to sell high on 34-year-old Leonard.
