Minecraft Realms Adds Chaos Cubed, Offers 1-Month Realms Plus Trial

It looks more like a powerful new tool than a fragile gimmick, even with the reported health drop from 40 HP to 4 HP in later Bedrock preview notes. On paper, that nerf is severe. But the Sulfur Cube’s usefulness is not defined mainly by raw health. Its value comes from its block-absorption system: feeding it TNT creates a timed explosive, Magma makes it harmful on contact, and other blocks can change how it bounces, slides, or moves. That gives players a flexible mob for traps, mini-games, transport puzzles, and physics-based builds. The key detail is survivability in practice. Preview information indicates that once a Sulfur Cube has absorbed a block, it is resistant or immune to many common damage sources, and some versions can even deflect projectiles. A primed explosive cube also becomes effectively untouchable until detonation. That means the health nerf matters most when the mob is unmodified or exposed, not when it is being used as intended. There are still limits. At 4 HP, an unprotected Sulfur Cube is easy to kill, so casual handling in survival mode becomes riskier. Players will need to bucket it, deploy it carefully, and build around its mechanics rather than treat it like a durable combat mob. So the nerf makes the Sulfur Cube less forgiving, but not pointless. It remains a strong utility mob whose power lies in interaction design, not tankiness.

Minecraft Realms is rolling out Chaos Cubed to private multiplayer worlds, adding sulfur caves, cinnabar and sulfur cubes that interact with magma and TNT to drive more competitive group play.
June 18 to July 18, players can earn a 1-month Realms Plus trial code by watching Minecraft livestreams—3 minutes on TikTok or 5 minutes on Twitch.
The trial is limited to Minecraft Bedrock Edition and requires a Microsoft account, internet access and a credit card; the subscription renews at the regular price unless canceled.
Chaos Cubed builds on Minecraft's broader 26.31 update, which expanded sulfur-cave mechanics and social features as Mojang pushes fresh reasons for friends to start private worlds.
