Yes—at least for early flagship phones, Qualcomm’s new 2nm chips are very likely to raise prices. The main reason is manufacturing cost. TSMC’s 2nm wafers are widely expected to cost around $30,000, roughly 50% more than 3nm wafers. Early yields are also lower, which pushes the cost of each usable chip up even more. Industry estimates cited in the supporting material suggest per-die costs could jump by about 80% versus comparable 3nm parts in the early phase. Qualcomm’s top variant, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, also adds expensive ingredients beyond the node shrink: higher clocks, a larger GPU, more cache and graphics memory, LPDDR6 support, and likely UFS 5.0 pairing. Those parts improve performance, AI capability, bandwidth, and efficiency, but they also raise the bill of materials for phone makers. That does not mean every Android phone will become dramatically more expensive. Qualcomm appears to be creating a tiered lineup precisely to manage cost pressure. The standard 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 drops LPDDR6 and uses a weaker GPU, while 3nm variants may let brands keep prices lower. That gives manufacturers room to reserve the Pro chip for ultra-premium models and use cheaper versions elsewhere. So the most likely outcome is selective price inflation: the fastest 2nm phones launching late 2026 will probably carry a noticeable premium, while mainstream flagships may rely on cut-down or older-node chips to avoid record-breaking retail prices.

Four new flagship Snapdragon chips are reportedly in Qualcomm’s pipeline, topped by the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which is said to target record peak performance.
That top SM8975 chip would use a 2+3+3 Oryon CPU layout, more aggressive clocks, an A850 GPU, 16GB GMEM and LPDDR6/5X memory support.
A second 2nm part, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, would keep the same core configuration but step down on graphics, drop LPDDR6 support and use 12GB GMEM.
The lineup also includes two 3nm variants — SM8850Q as a new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 version and SM8845 Pro, which may launch as Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro.
If Qualcomm follows its usual schedule, the first phones using the Gen 6 Pro could arrive around October to December.
