14-Year-Old E-Scooter Rider Dies After 6:20 a.m. Beaverton Crosswalk Crash

Beaverton police said the 14-year-old boy hospitalized after Wednesday morning’s crash has died; his name has not yet been released.
Around 6:20 a.m. near Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Loon Drive, he was riding an e-scooter through a marked crosswalk and wearing a helmet when a car struck him.
A 16-year-old boy was driving the car and is cooperating with investigators, who said the case remains active and asked witnesses to come forward.
Dozens of residents gathered at the crash scene Wednesday evening, describing the victim as widely loved and calling for more safety as the death shook the Beaverton community.
