Three months before Practical Magic 2 opens on Sept. 11, E! resurfaced 1998 interviews in which Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock described an immediate bond while promoting the original film.
Bullock said the pair 'adored each other' and wanted the same thing from the movie, while Kidman called Bullock down-to-earth and said their chemistry never felt forced.
That connection also shaped the 1998 film itself: Bullock later said she suggested Kidman for Gillian before they had met, and director Griffin Dunne said they behaved like real sisters on set.
E!'s retrospective widened into behind-the-scenes lore from the first movie, including a consultant's $250,000 demand, an on-set exorcism and the tequila-fueled 'midnight margaritas' scene.
The look back underscores renewed attention on the franchise after multiple failed follow-up attempts, with the long-delayed sequel now finally set for a 2026 theatrical release.
