Kean briefly told a reporter, “I’ll talk to you next week,” after aides had said only that the 57-year-old Republican was being treated for a health condition.
His absence from Washington since March 5 has left him missing more than 100 House votes and largely off the campaign trail in a competitive November re-election race.
A spokesman said last week Kean is expected back in Washington on June 30 and promised he would be “fully transparent” then.
